Facts of the Scandal
The sex tape of Hoang Thuy Linh and her boyfriend which was filmed on Thuy Linh’s cellular phone cam has caused outrage across Vietnam! Vietnamese journalist Hung Nguyen claims: “This is the most scandalous and controversial thing that has ever happened in Vietnam’s virtual world.
Earlier, the following was reported: Vietnamese actress, Hoang Thuy Linh’s sex tape caused the cancellation of her soap opera (in which Thuy Linh stars as a schoolgirl)! Ouch!
A sex tape featuring 19-year-old Vietnamese actress Hoang Thuy Linh was circulated around the internet in October of 2007 and resulted in the cancellation of the popular show Vang Anh's Diaries, in which Thuy Linh played a high school girl with traditional values facing typical youth issues.1
The tape caused controversy in the sexually conservative communist country, where women are expected to remain chaste until marriage and remain unquestionably faithful to their husband.2
Four people in their twenties, who reportedly copied the video from a computer belonging to Thuy Linh's partner, were arrested for "dispersing illicit material of sexual content," and could face up to three years in prison if convicted.

June 9, 2008: Four students were charged in a Hanoi, Vietnam court for the online posting of a sex tape depicting actress Hoang Thuy Linh and boyfriend Vu Hoang Viet havinging sex.
Student Nguyen Huu Tai was given a 30 month probation sentence and students Vo Thanh Hiep and Vu Thi Thuy Linh were sentenced to 24 months. Student Nguyen Thu Linh was given the lightest sentence of the four involved with 20 months of probation.
